Solid hardwood is typically 3/4-inch thick oak, maple, or hickory. It's sanded and finished in place after installation, which lets you choose the exact stain color on-site. It can be refinished multiple times — a well-maintained hardwood floor lasts 50 to 100 years.
Engineered hardwood has a real wood veneer over a plywood core. It handles humidity swings better than solid, installs over concrete slabs, and looks identical to solid once it's down. For most Houston homes, engineered is the more practical choice.
Carpet is still the right call for bedrooms and media rooms — it's quieter, warmer underfoot, and easier on furniture legs. Olafab Cabinetry carries cut-pile, textured, and berber styles in dozens of colors. We install carpet padding underneath and stretch it properly so it stays flat.
